Australian Dance Music wonderchild Cassettes For Kids is continuing to expand his already adored musical footprint, announcing his forthcoming EP, Turpins Falls, will release on the 17th of June via Gallery Records.

Alongside the announcement of the project, he’s released the sophomore single off the project, the rhythmic Heard This Calling. Acting as the energetic cornerstone of the EP, Heard This Calling was born in inspiration from a sample taken from the Tata Vega record Come In Heaven (Earth Is Calling). With the goal of creating a song that’s sole purpose was to uplift via euphoria, the sample presented as an obvious choice to combine with acoustic drums, sharp 909’s and dreamy synthesisers, giving the gritty, vinyl sample a festival main stage sonic presence.

Heard This Calling is an extremely efficient piece of music. Music is so often overthought, overproduced, over handled, over corrected and over digitalised, yet the latest effort from Cassettes For Kids subverts this contemporary trend in electronic dance music. We’ve all been on a dancefloor reflecting in an attempt to understand why the feeling is so grand, so filled with elation and so much joy. How can music that can seem so simple trigger so much deep emotion and internal flare? It’s an impossible question to answer with words, but Heard This Feeling somehow miraculously bottles up that euphoria.

Turpins Falls is a vast array of moods that ebbs and flows in energy, texture, power and emotion, wrapped in an archetypal, Cassettes For Kids glaze of hardware driven house music. Every track has its own unique deeply human feel and bounce, as evocative synths, swinging bass lines and driving, varied percussion layers fall effortlessly together, giving audiences an intimate insight into the mind of one of Australia’s most talented and prolific producers.

Heard This Calling joins previously released Tranquil on the forthcoming Turpins Falls EP. The single has already pricked the ears of some of the finest tastemakers in the world, currently sitting on the USBs of DJ Seinfeld, DJ Boring, Dennis Sulta and also HAAi. It’s not just on the dancefloor that Tranquil received acclaim, landing in Spotify’s premium underground dance music playlist Portal.
